The book provides an effective, comprehensive discussion of a series of various aspects of low-stability long-period states of condensed systems on the basis of proposed physical concepts. Currently, a great emphasis is made on investigation of semiconductor and metal nano-structured materials, which is dictated by their special properties and promising application of the former as base materials for nano-electronics, and the latter - as specialized functional and structural materials. In the vast majority of cases, low-stability nano-structured state is achieved by particular process techniques, while the physical background properties and structure of these materials remain vague.
This book fills the gap by focusing on the fundamental physical aspects of structure of low-stability nanomaterials.
It is intended for a wide range of specialists - researches and engineers dealing with materials science, condensed matter physics (metals, alloys, semiconductors) as well as for university lecturers and graduate and undergraduate students majoring in materials science.
