The book contains papers presented at the International Workshop High Energy Density Hydrodynamics (Novosibirsk, Russia, August 11–15, 2003). The papers are written by leading scientists and reflect the modern status of research on the development of explosive magnetocumulative generators of energy and ultrahigh magnetic fields, the use of explosive generators for solving some problems of experimental physics: generation of X-ray radiation, to study material properties in ultrahigh magnetic fields, and other applications; explosive high-current switches; acceleration of solids in electromagnetic, electric-discharge, and electrothermochemical launchers and light-gas ballistic facilities; explosive and combined methods for accelerating solids: light gas gun–explosive launcher, light gas gun–rail launcher, etc.; shaped-charge problems, new methods of producing shaped-charge jets, the effect of magnetic fields on shaped-charge performance, current instability and disruption of shaped-charge-jets, and mechanics of shaped-charge jet penetration into various targets, including ceramic materials, etc.
The book will be useful for researchers and engineers working in the field of pulsed power and high energy density hydrodynamics, and as a handbook for postgraduate students and senior students of physical, applied physics, mechanical, and electrical engineering departments.
