A girl goes to Scotland to stay with friends of her mother's, after her mother dies. before she reaches the Duke's castle, her carriage is wrecked and she is saved by a young chieftain. they spend a day together and it's obvious they fall in love with each other, but then the girl goes to stay with the duke, who has his own tragic and dangerous secrets. finally, the chieftain saves the girl at the last moment and they live happily together.
