This book takes the most significant people and events of the last century and portrays them in pictures, with some text. While the beginning of the century is represented in b&w, the quality of these and the later photographs are excellent. Most of the 380 photos originally appeared in Life magazine; others are owned by the Smithsonian Institution, libraries, and various other museums.
