Experimentalists and theorists working on the two imaging techniques discuss a wide range of chemical, physical, and biological problems, and their own research techniques. Their experiments relate broadly either to resonant infrared methods in which ultrafast pulsed are tuned to the wavelength of the vibrational transition, or to Raman methods in which two visible wavelengths have a difference in frequency equal to the vibrational frequency; some combine the two. Some examine the time evolution, while others are concerned with vibrational coherence. All of them provide information on the dynamics and interactions of condensed matter systems.
